## About the MediaWiki logo

The MediaWiki icon is a flat, stylised sunflower: a ring of pointed petals that shade from yellow and orange through red and pink to violet, around an empty white centre. The lockup sets "MediaWiki" in black under the flower. MediaWiki switched to this design in 2021, replacing the photographic sunflower it had used since the mid-2000s.

The flower reads well on light and dark backgrounds. The black wordmark disappears on dark surfaces, so use the icon or the monochrome lockup there.

## When to use this logo

Use MediaWiki in wiki and knowledge base comparisons, self-hosted documentation stacks, LAMP deployment guides and docs for MediaWiki extensions or the Action API. It pairs naturally with PHP, MySQL, Apache, Nginx and Docker.
